When you were draped as True Winter you probably went through makeup recommendations and makeup looks for your Season with a mix of excitement and horror, wondering how to apply them to your personal situation and lifestyle. Chances are that you were slightly intimidated by the bold lipstick colors and could not imagine wearing them every day. Or that you felt a bit sad that your times of playing with makeup are gone and that you would have to wear just one uniform look from now on.
All of that could not be further from the truth. Depending on the preferences, on the occasion and the effect a woman aims for, there are so many different ways to use True Winter color palette to create bold, classy or natural makeup.
Lady Danger
Value contrast combined with a strong color accent can easily bring out drama in her makeup. True Winter palette offers a great range of colors to achieve both.
Her eye makeup includes the whole value range from white to black, from frosty white highlight (12 Blueprints Sugar) to black Lancôme Hypnôse Drama mascara. Smokey eye in shades of taupe, grey and brown-black is mysterious – 12 Blueprints eyeshadow palette for True Winter has everything you need for this purpose.
Can we make Lady Danger more approachable by adding some warmth to her face? The blusher is already obviously warmer than she is and in consequence it immediately stands out in this face. Isn’t it defying the whole purpose of her makeup? A touch of contour can be fine but let’s not make it worse by applying bronzer.
Bold fuchsia lips finish the look. She chose creme lipstick MAC Girl About Town and paired it with lipliner MAC Talking Points for enhanced lip definition.
How could your version of “Lady Danger” makeup look like? You could start with a light grey matte eyeshadow as a base and apply it all over your eyelid. You may add a touch of purple eyeshadow as an accent in the outer corner of the eye for additional drama. Ink navy and dark purple could be good options for eyeliner. Icy lilac highlighter in the inner corner of your eye and just below the arch of your eyebrow would go well with the purples. For lipstick and blush try pink fuchsia and purple fuchsia from your color palette.
Queen of Romance
Winged liner, full lashes and red lipstick bring Old Hollywood glamour to mind when we look at her. Despite that glamorous effect, which you could assume might be time and labor intensive, there is just a few products you need to achieve it.
The foundation of this look is a great red lipstick and red blush in a similar shade. She used Perfect Mood Board blue-based red crème lipstick Vixen and 12 Blueprints Crystal Apple blusher. Eyeliner could have been black but she opted for a dark grey one with silver shimmer instead (Sephora Starry Sky). Darker than usual eyebrows and black mascara (Lancôme Hypnôse Drama) add depth and mystery to the whole picture.
When you find your perfect red lipstick and train your hand in eyeliner application, this look may take no more than 10 minutes to create. Just powder your nose and you’re ready, darling.
How could you recreate the “Queen of Romance” makeup for yourself? True red and cranberry red would be excellent colors for your lipstick and blusher. Since red lip is the focal point of this face, keep your eye makeup neutral – shades of grey for base and crease eyeshadows, and light silver gray for highlighter. Pure black eyeliner would draw the viewer’s attention so go for coal black or dark charcoal instead.
Ice Princess
Winters often struggle with every day makeup as most of the recommendations for their Seasons involve bright lips and strong eyes. What would a woman who wants a “no-makeup” look do?
She adds light and only a touch of color to her face. She stays away from bronzer and contour. Instead, she plays with highlighter (Becca Prismatic Amethyst) and blusher (Perfect Mood Board Fast Track) to slightly accentuate peaks and valleys of her face.
Light steel grey eyeshadow keeps her eyes looking fresh and awake. She skips eyeliner and applies two layers of black mascara (Eveline Cosmetics Volumix Fiberlast). Use brown-black or charcoal mascara if you aim for even more gentle look.
She chooses a lightweight and slightly sheer lipstick with a glossy finish, like this light fuchsia pink Darling Pink from 12 Blueprints.
Would you like to give the gentle “Ice Princess” makeup a try? Switch your eyeshadows from greys to light and medium taupe from your color palette. Black-brown eyeliner would look more belonging to this face than pure black, navy or purple. Icy pink highlighter applied in the inner corner of the eye and just below the brow bone would contribute to the fresh and light effect. Red-violet blush paired with light to medium pink lip gloss or tinted lip balm would be great options to achieve an easy and natural look.
All three pictures were taken by a professional photographer, in different lighting, using various camera settings and effects. Therefore, the hair and skin colors you see in the pictures are not identical and do not reflect the actual coloring of the person in real life. May it serve us as a reminder why color analysis from pictures should be avoided as it may bring inaccurate results.
